Piano Lesson Policies For 2024 – 2025

Students/Parents will receive a copy of the lesson policies at the first lesson.

Days off for the year

I typically follow school holidays. Summer lessons are optional and there are no lessons on Sundays. Any other days off will be discussed at the first lesson.

Payment

Payment is due on the 2nd lesson of the month for all lessons that month. You will be emailed/texted an invoice by the first paid lesson and can pay with your debit/credit card. Lessons cannot continue until a payment is received.

Lesson Pricing-

For lessons in your home or online (fees included):

$20 for 30 min lesson (beginner students)
$30 for 45 min lesson (intermediate/advanced students)
$40 for 1 hr lesson (advanced students)

Lessons online include fees that are charged for teaching lessons on the website so they are the same price as in home lessons.

If you are outside Pierce County and want lessons in your home, I will travel to locations close to Pierce County for an additional $5 per lesson. This includes Auburn, Federal Way, Enumclaw, Olympia, Lacey, Yelm and nearby cities.

New lesson books: When a lesson book is finished I will buy any new books and I will add them to the invoice.

Lesson prices may increase during the year. Parents/Students will be notified a month before any change in pricing.

Missed Lessons

You may text or call if you cannot make a lesson. Let me know about obligations/vacations/holidays that prevent you/your child from coming to lessons. I must be notified the day before the lesson (by midnight) if you cannot make it, except for emergencies. Lessons missed without notifying the teacher the day before cannot be refunded. Lessons missed due to emergencies will be refunded. Any lessons I miss will be refunded.

Discontinuation of Lessons

Please keep in mind that learning a musical instrument takes time to learn and cannot be mastered in a few weeks or months. It can be difficult at first. I recommend trying to learn for a year before deciding it’s not for you. I understand if you must discontinue for financial reasons. Please provide 2 weeks notice if you want to discontinue lessons. Any remaining lessons will be refunded.

The teacher has the right to discontinue lessons for any reason.

Referral Program

Students or parents of students will get 2 free lessons when they refer a new student (who has never taken lessons with me) and they take 4 lessons. If you want to refer someone, they can sign up for lessons at www.molliegoddard.com or you can give them my contact info. If they sign up on the website they will need to indicate they were referred by another student or parent. The two free lessons will be taken off the next month’s invoice.

Recitals

Local students have the opportunity to perform in recitals any time during the school year. These opportunities are available through my membership in the Washington State Music Teacher’s Association Puyallup Valley Chapter.
