Piano Lessons

My name is Mollie Goddard and I currently teach piano lessons in the greater Tacoma Washington area. I have been playing piano since 2001 and I hold a Bachelor’s of Music Degree from The Master’s University (formerly The Master’s College) in Santa Clarita, CA. I also play piano for my church and arrange hymns.

What you will need

.

An acoustic piano is preferred, but they can be expensive and may not work out in your situation. Digital pianos can come close to the sound and feel of an acoustic piano. If you want to use a digital piano, it must have the following;

  • Weighted keys (keys that can play soft or loud)
  • A full keyboard of 88 keys
  • Pedals

Piano lessons can start with a smaller keyboard without weighted keys (I started piano lessons on a keyboard like this!). However, students will need the kind of keyboard listed above or acoustic piano within 6 months to 1 year of playing. Contact me for keyboard recommendations.

.

Depending on your level of playing (beginner/advanced), I will use either lesson books or classical repertoire. It may vary among students how long it takes to get through each lesson book, some could take 6 months and some could take 1 year. The parent (if the student is a child) or the adult student will pay for the lesson book each time a new one is started.

You must have an acoustic or digital piano before your first lesson. The first lesson is free!

What is expected

Students are expected to practice regularly. Practice session lengths may vary for different skill levels, but 5 days of practice each week is the minimum needed to make progress.

Students may have music listening assignments or theory worksheets to complete at home.

Policies

Policies and lesson rates may change from time to time. Typically, rates and policies will change at the start of the year (September). Students and parents will be notified of any changes.
